Kevin Ward is an accomplished professional in the field of Culinary Arts and Hospitality, with a wealth of experience and academic achievements. Holding an MBA, a Diploma, and a BA in Culinary Arts, as well as a BA (hons) in Hotel Management, Kevin's has also perused educational excellence with a Postgraduate Diploma in Learning, Teaching and Assessment.
With a rich culinary career, Kevin worked as an Executive Chef for Marriott Hotels, at Sheraton, and Hodson Bay Hotel Group, and also represented Ireland at international pastry art competition and has won numerous gold medals.
In 2014, he joined the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) as a lecturer in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, and Tourism. His role includes enhancing cross-cultural learning experiences with international partner schools, and regularly mentors students for international culinary competitions.
Kevin has also a keen interest in sustainability and waste reduction and has implemented what he calls a BioTerraCycling food waste system at TUS. This system involves capturing food waste and reusing it as a vegetable fertilised on campus. Currently pursuing a Ph.D., Kevin's research delves into the complex dynamics of chef retention in the hospitality industry, focusing on the isomorphic forces at play.
